It’s Thursday morning, which means assignments for unit 7 at UoPeople are up today. In the past 6 weeks I’ve started developing a routine for limiting the amount of time I spend on school each week. The system may not be perfect, and I’m sure with time it will continue to improve, but I’d still like to share my process.
I’ve been reflecting a lot lately on the reasons why people play video games. I’m trying to understand as deeply as possible what makes games different from other forms of entertainment. Even more so, to understand a bit more about myself by understanding what it is that compels me to even pick up a controller or a keyboard, and why video games became a life long love, rather than just a childhood past time meant to be grown out of.
There is a project that has started at my school, UoPeople, that is interested in the gamification of the APA style of academic writing. I thought I’d share my initial input to the project with you.
It was Victoria Day weekend here in Canada, which made for a very busy weekend filled with distractions, and obligations, making it difficult to keep up with my school work. With some careful planing, prioritizing and sacrifice, I was able to find a way to balance school, work, and play this weekend… Let’s talk about it.
Today marks the last day of my 5th week at UoPeople. I’m still moving along strong in my courses but I have made a big mistake this week that I’d like to share with you. Find out what UoPeople is here.
It’s now half way through week 4 at UoPeople, and I have to say that my experience so far has been very good! My courses have been challenging me, but I’ve also really enjoyed the topics in the reading assignments. The school just launched the UoPeople network on Yammer, which is basically Facebook for work groups, or in our case school. But more on that later below.
